On Thursday 14th. March 2002 there was a Bridport Cluster of Small Schools Mini Handball Tournament held at the Sir John Colfox School.

There were 10 teams competing in the tournament; 2 teams from each School (an A and a B team).

We started with some warm up exercises.

We had to wait for another team to play before we played Loders B – we were ready and raring to go! The score was 5 - 0 to us when we played. We waited for five more games to be played until we could play again. We played Thorner’s A and we won 4 – 0. Fred scored 3 goals and Sam scored 1.

We had to wait for another five matches to be played until we played Symondsbury B. This was our hardest match yet as they equalized. This made it 1 - 1 because Sam deflected into the goal but Fred managed to score a last minute goal, which meant we won 2 - 1. We went on and played Burton Bradstock A but they were no match for us; we won 3 - 0.

When we knew we had won, all the schools went over to the score board. We knew we were through to the semi finals but we still waited just to make sure. Then we raced on to the court and played Symondsbury A. We scored an early goal which boosted our confidence so we went on and won 4 - 0.

After that we waited for the other semi final to be played – Loders A versus Thorner’s A. We were all really surprised at the result of this game because we were going to play Loders (this was the team that we played in the final last year), but they weren’t going to stop us! Luckily for us Fred our captain finally won the toss for the first time in the tournament. We felt really confident and we won 4 - 0 in a five-minute match! Fred scored 2, Sam scored 1 and Rhia scored 1.

So with the trophy back at school we’re really looking forward to Lancashire (National Mini Handball Festival) and we are determined to try to improve our runners up position from last year.
